Covid 19 Information
From Zach Moser:
After speaking with many concerned citizens and Board members, it is clear that the effectiveness of masks is still in question in the minds of most Dent County residents. I wanted to share this study that was published this week in MMWR. The study looked at the pediatric case rate in schools with and without mask mandates. In districts with masks, case rates were significantly smaller compared to districts without mask mandates. The study can be found here. https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7039e3.htm?s_cid=mm7039e3_e&ACSTrackingID=USCDC_921-DM66537&ACSTrackingLabel=MMWR%20Early%20Release%20-%20Vol.%2070%2C%20September%2024%2C%202021&deliveryName=USCDC_921-DM66537
Another study showed similar results: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7039e1.htm?s_cid=mm7039e1_e&ACSTrackingID=USCDC_921-DM66537&ACSTrackingLabel=MMWR%20Early%20Release%20-%20Vol.%2070%2C%20September%2024%2C%202021&deliveryName=USCDC_921-DM66537
In summary, the utility of masks is well defined at this point. They are important to slowing the spread of COVID-19. Please share this information with your boards and consider sharing it with your parents as well to demonstrate the purpose of the mask mandates.
